Are we close? I just had my SSMS window crash, losing work and I really miss the history window from SSMS Tools pack that would save each executed statement, such a great backup.

Next release is coming within about next 10 days. We have this "logging" feature implemented, but it will not be included in coming release, because we are working on good UI. I think you can expect it arrive in January.
Stay tuned !

Hi, yes - we are working on it. Actually it is "complete" but without any UI. Currently we can just dump executed statements.
Most probably, "auto-sessions" will come first, before this feature will be released. We just had both of features in todo and Autosessions had more weight. But we may release logging in "preview" mode, where we'll just dump executed statements to disk, without any UI, adding it in next version. Write if you need it.

I would love even just having the BETA dump executed statements, I keep having some close calls and would love this backup, even if not polished yet. From what I remember these type of statements are dumped as .sql or .txt which I can just manually search for using windows search. If you have a Beta I could for now, I'd appreciate trying it out. Auto sessions also sounds awesome. SQL Tab Magic by redgate offered this for free for a short time and I found it awesome to just close ssms and open back to where i had left off with no fuss!

You guys rock!

Ok, I will try to add "preview" of statements execution log into release 2.9.
I will also publish a small 2.8 release today with some minor improvements and scripting engine improvement, which will boost it x4 times.

I know this part is much more complex that we all probably realize, but I was just wondering if we had an ETA on this one feature for at least the beta/testing version. Capturing my execute statements would be a great backup to my work, even if the full GUI isn't built. I can always just file explorer till then. Maybe you could release the execute statements being saved without the GUI as the beta test and then move forward? Just a thought. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Hello !
We are preparing next release now. It should be ready in about 2 weeks. Statement Execution log preview is already done and will be present (save-only functionality).
(note - I have moved your question here)

Can you confirm that this will save the executed statements in the background? I think that is the most important concern of all folks who want this type of functionality. The whole thought is to have it capturing the executed statements and preserving in the background for any later searches. Requiring a manual save defeats the purpose of this.

Just asking. Thanks again!

I hope I understand you correct, I simply do not see any other possibility as to save executed statements in the background. So - yes. It will be saved automatically in the background and you do not have to take care about it. It will just work.

I'm incomplete as a person until I have the newest SSMSboost, and this delay is destroying my self worth....

Thanks, I'm joking of course, but I'm a huge fan!

Do you see your product as ever moving to enhance intellisense? I miss options to auto insert statements, expand wildcard column names, etc.

Currently not,is you are talking about "smart inline drop-down that performs some magic", because it will simply consume all available development ressources. We have done some "alpha version" of it, but have immediately realized that it needs a lot of time to be done good. Maybe some time later we will get back to it.

I undestand you 100%. Thank you for your support and we will keep doing our best.
