This would be more convenient than using the 'Locate in Object Explorer' then right clicking the found object to get the select command. I use this to see into a table more often than I need to edit the values in a table.

Where do you expect to see the execution results ? New QueryWindow/Results Grid ?
Problem with ResultsGrid is that it can display only results of some executed statament.

I would expect it to act the same way as if you right clicked a table or view in the Object explorer and selected "Select top x records". The result of the action is a new Query Window showing a select statement for the table/view and a result grid.
