  • open a new query window and start a long query
  • open a second query
  • use the second window to kill the session id of the first one
  • switch to the first session - it should now have the status disconnected in the status bar
  • try to use the SSMSBoost prefered connection combo box to switch to another database on the same server
  • it will fail without error message, since you are executing now only a USE <database> statement
  • -> check the connection status and reconnect, if disconnected, before the USE
