Old fashioned formatting is seemingly gone from version 3.10.7492.

While the functionality to create a custom formatting template is nice, the old fashioned formatting worked 99% perfectly and required almost no time spent to configure; I could easily spend hours trying to get a custom template setup that would do the same as the old fashioned formatting template.

Please add the old fashioned formatting back!

What is happening with this? Old fashioned was a great option.

I would be happy if there were a formatting profile based on old-fashioned that we could use as a starting point.

Yes, please bring back old fashioned formatting! Or just a style file with the same settings that we can use in de new format editor. OFF worked fine for me, the new editor is far too complex for my taste...

I am defintively missing it a lot. It was simple, and did the job well! Bring it back!

Hello moderators, when will the feature be back or a functional equivalent existing?

The omission of "Old Fashioned Formatting" at v3.10 isn't even mentioned in the changelogs
https://www.ssmsboost.com/Changelog
how ... ?
Is there any perspective to overcome the issues with the current formatting introduced by version 3.10?
Or should I forget about SSMSBoost and switch to another formatter?

Yes, please bring back the built in formatting. I've tried setting up a custom one but still can't get it to format a RESTORE DATABASE statement so it looks nice and splits across multiple lines.

Other new version released, but old fashioned was not brought back 😭

All this time, our development team was desperately trying to work with a new formatter, but it was useless: formatting through syntax check (does not work without communication with the server), no formatting of any complex constructs like "merge", does not clean extra blank lines, no tabulation for constructs like "try", irrational tabulation of complex subqueries, and many other disadvantages. All of it is absent in style settings.

Please just revert the old formatting option! You don't need to evolve it. This already works much better than anything we've ever seen.
Or will we have to live forever on 3.9.7431 😳
And no Pro anymore, of cause.

I just upgraded to 3.11.7639 and I don't have the Old Fashioned option.
I lost it when going to 3.10.
Is there a way for me to get Old Fashioned back?

Mikhail - Can you please explain how you got the Old Fashioned formatting to work in v.3.11.7639? I can't seem to find it, or a style that contains that formatting. Thanks!

Still relevant! Seems like no admins or mods are caring about forums?!

I think it is not existing in v.3.11.7639.
I just upgraded from v.3.8.7307 to v.3.11.7639 and the Old Fashioned Formatting disappeared!

Still waiting for a solution to this!

Could someone at least post the .xml file for Old Fashioned Formatting if it's working for you?

I had to install the new version of SSMSBoost today, and I noticed this in the ChangeLog:

- RESTORED: "Old Fashion Formatter" is available again under formatting options.
Some history:Poor Man's T-SQL Formatter was created by Tao Klerk a long time ago. He has also
implemented SSMS Add-in, which stopped working some day, because of the quickly changing
SSMS architecture. This is where we have asked him for permission to use the command-line
version of his formatter and connect it to our add-in. (You will find the SqlFormatter.exe in the
installation folder of SSMSBoost). After several years of pause he has reanimated the SSMS support and
we thought we can remove it from our project, but many users have asked us to bring it back, because
sometimes the author needs more time to keep the pace with changing SSMS environment.
The original project URL: http://architectshack.co...orMansTSqlFormatter.ashx

I installed the new version of SSMSBoost, but I couldn't figure out how to enable the Old Fashioned Formatting. Fortunately, you can just install it separately using the URL at the end of the above note. I can confirm that this works in SSMS 2018 (ver 17.9.1). Cheers!
